BALL groups

Be Active Life Long (BALL) Groups offer the opportunity for older people to remain active, connected and involved in their communities. Buckie BALL group meets on Tuesday mornings in the Guide Hall, Buckpool BALL group meets in The Fishermen’s Hall on Wednesday at 10am; Findochty BALL group is held in the Church hall on Wednesday at 2pm.

Buckie & District Community Council

The Community Council is a voluntary organisation that acts as a voice for the Buckie area. They meet monthly to discuss issues affecting their area, including planning and licensing applications and are consulted regularly by the local authority on a range of matters. All meetings are public and members of the community are encouraged to attend.

Buckie & Findochty Salvation Army

A Christian Church which operates from 2 buildings: Buckie Salvation Army Hall, 14 New Street Buckie and Findochty Salvation Army Hall, 3A Chapel Street, Findochty. They offer a regular food bank, “Welcome Wednesday” lunch and socialising, film nights, pre-school Little Fishes Sing and Play and Youth Drop-in sessions.

Buckie and District Cancer Support Group

A group of volunteers who hope to support individuals and families affected by cancer by providing practical help such as assistance to get to appointments, help to stay at Clan Haven or other practical support.

They have a monthly support group in Burnside Court on the last Wednesday of the month at 7pm.

Buckie Area Forum

The Buckie Area Forum (BAF) brings together representatives from local community organisations and local residents to share information and tackle issues.

Buckie Community Shop

Sells second hand goods, including furniture, electrical and white goods, with profits remaining in the community. Helps those in need source household items.

Buckie Friendship Club

A social group open to anyone who is feeling a bit lonely, particularly people who are struggling with their mental health, are neuro diverse or who have additional support needs. Meets every 2nd & 4th Wednesday in The Fishermen’s Hall.

Buckie Men’s Shed

A social group for men who enjoy using their practical skills. It enables members to have an increased sense of purpose, build friendships, exchange ideas and learn. Based at 19a High Street, Buckie, an old building which they are renovating.

Buckpool Harbour Community Group

A group of local volunteers who are trying to upgrade and maintain the Buckpool Harbour Area to make it a nicer place for everyone to use. There is a small park with a wee fairy garden.

Feeling Blue

A local charity which supports people affected by suicide. They fundraise in order to provide free counselling sessions for those affected by suicide, those who are feeling suicidal and those who struggle with their mental health.

Finechty Men’s Shed

Finechty men’s shed is “a place for men to get together for practical leisure skills using talents and social space with their peer group.” They are based down at Sannie Craig East Beach.

Friends of Seafield Hospital and Community Patients

A charity and community group which raises funds for patient welfare at Seafield Hospital.

SWRI

Scottish Women’s Institutes has a rich history across Scotland’s communities, promoting education and connecting women locally and nationally to improve their quality of life through friendship, education, sharing and having fun.

Is a volunteer run community space offering help to cope with the cost-of-living crisis. They provide information, signpost to advice agencies, and offer practical support to those in need. Supported by FAB DT.

Buckie Area Arts and Crafts Group

A group of artists and crafters who meet regularly in The Fishermen’s Hall to share their skills and love of crafting over a cuppa.

Buckie Community Theatre

Welcomes children from age 9 and adults who are genuinely interested in drama & theatre. Produces several shows annually, including a panto.

Coastal Creations

A charity “dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable adults, supporting our service users to learn new skills in a friendly and welcoming environment.” They offer a range of craft activities and regular karaoke sessions

Moray Reach Out

Moray Reach Out is a charity which helps adults with disabilities gain a real sense of purpose and pride through participating in meaningful work placements, creating products and providing services. They have a range of projects in Buckie including a thrift shop, a yarns & crafts shop and a wood recycling workshop.

ACE Winches / Victoria Park Function Hall

Victoria Lounge is mainly a bar for supporters on Buckie Thistle Football Club’s match days but it can also be hired for all sorts of events.

Active Schools

Active Schools is a national network working to provide opportunities for young people to participate in a free programme of extra-curricular sport and physical activity. Opportunities include street football, football, squash, dance, dodgeball, badminton and running.

Buckie Bowling Club

Situated on Low Street, the club offers outdoor and short mat indoor bowls.

Buckie Health Walks

Wednesdays at 7pm, meet at Buckie Swimming Pool. Short, safe, social, fun and accessible low level walks led by trained volunteers.

Buckie Rovers Football Club

Based at Merson Park and part of Moray & District Welfare League, the Club won a historic Treble in in 2024.

Buckie Skate Park

Buckie Skate Park is an Outdoor concrete skate park run by Buckie Skate Park Group. It’s situated at the end of Ian Johnston Park, on South Pringle Street, near Buckie Thistle Football Ground

Buckie Thistle Football Club

Founded in 1889, Buckie Thistle FC won the Scottish Highland Football League Championship in 2024. They are based at Victoria Park.

Buckie Victoria Bowling Club

Buckie Victoria Bowling Club is located on West Church Street, Buckie near to the Victoria Bridge. It is one of two green bowling clubs in Buckie and has a membership of about 50 at the present time.

Buckpool Golf Club

An 18 hole golf course on the western edge of Buckie “with picturesque views across the Moray Firth, and where swales and hollows are littered around the approaches to slick undulating greens”. In addition to golf, the Club offers a broad range of social activities including indoor bowls, bingo, musical entertainment and meals.

Strathlene Golf Club

is an 18-hole golf course built above the cliffs between Portessie and Findochty. It includes a floodlit 14 bay driving range and pitch & putt.

Buckie & District Fishing Heritage

A volunteer run heritage centre which aims to “preserve the character, history and traditions of the fishing and boat building industries in the Buckie district.” They have a collection of artifacts and an extensive collection of photos.

Buckie Community Choir

Meets weekly and welcomes anyone who sings for fun. Performs at various community events, including Carols in the Square.

Buckies Roots

A community group which designs and maintains flower beds and planters around Cluny Square and the terminus of the Speyside Way in Buckie. The also have a team of litter pickers who keep the town tidy, and a group of crafters who create artistic additions for the plantings.

Radio Buckie

Radio Buckie is a form of community radio station that targets ‘somethin far a’body’, especially those with an interest and/or links to the Buckie area.” Listen on your computer, tablet or smart phone and catch some doric, local history, and Scottish music.

RNLI Buckie Lifeboat

The first lifeboat was placed at Buckie 150 years ago and the highly trained team of men and women who crew our modern lifeboat continue the proud tradition of volunteering their skills to help those in danger from the sea.

Boys Brigade

1st Buckie Company Boys’ Brigade was founded in 1947 and is a Christian youth organisation for boys. Anchor Boys meet on Tuesday evenings; Junior and Company Sections meet on Fridays at One Marchmont Business Centre.

The Teddy Bear Developmental Playgroup aims to help those children develop physical, social, language and cognitive skills through a variety of play activities.

Buckie British Legion

The local branch of the Royal British Legion, the largest ex-service membership charity in Scotland, providing comradeship, support and a voice for veterans.

Buckie Christmas Kracker

A hugely popular Christmas event which incorporates turning on the Christmas lights. Normally including a funfair, Santa parade, charity fundraising and craft stalls.

Buckie Classic Car Show

A very successful one-day show for classic, modern and future classic vehicles, with around 700 entries from across the UK. Add in the charity fundraising and food stalls and it makes an enjoyable family day out.

Findochty Christmas Lights

A community group which organises Christmas Lights for the village, fundraising and installing the lights

Findochty Town Hall

The community owned village hall which hosts regular activities like keep fit, tai chi, table tennis, and events like the weekly pop-up teas run each Thursday. It is available to hire for private parties and meetings.

Portessie Public Hall

Portessie Public Hall is a well-used community hall and regular activities run throughout the year. In addition, individual bookings are taken for children’s and family parties, fundraising events, craft fairs, band practice, etc.

The Fishermen’s Hall

The second largest hall in Moray, The Fishermen’s Hall in Buckie is community owned and run by volunteers for the benefit of the community. Hosts entertainment events and regular clubs and activities. Available for hire for private parties and meetings.
